Work Units

Office Units

Every morning starts with a meeting in which a register is taken of who has arrived and until what time they are staying. The members of the unit volunteer for the tasks that they want to see advanced that day. The tasks are varied to allow lots of members to be exposed to, learn and get experience of different fields.

There are fixed tasks such as taking attendance, checking emails and faxes, renewing rehabilitation approvals, preparing presentations for the beginning and end of the week, typing, creating a weekly schedule, cleaning the facility, media etc.

There are also one time tasks, on a project basis, such as writing the monthly bulletin, cutting out cafeteria coupons, organizing birthday cards, video editing, arranging personal files, graphics assignments and more.

The unit has 44 members and 2 employees.

Once in two weeks there is a planning and development meeting for creating a work plan and involving every member. Once in a while we go out to a café for a team-building exercise.

The atmosphere is pleasant and everyone is busy with important and necessary work. All work is done co-operatively, shoulder to shoulder. Our unit is strong and cohesive. Its members feel significant and that they are growing, learning and even getting to the point of being able to work in the free market thanks to what they’ve done within the Clubhouse, the back-up and support of the other members.

Culinary unit

An amazing unit, with the best people!

Every day starts with a morning meeting, and this unit also records who has arrived, until when they are staying, and then people volunteer for tasks.

There are lots of detailed tasks, broken down into small and simple actions, so that even someone with no experience can take part. The tasks are done together, hand in hand, with everyone supporting and helping each other. There is no obligation to work, the members are connected to the community and recognize the importance of a healthy diet and a hot meal so that they can work through the day. That’s why they choose to cook and provide food for all the Clubhouse members. The atmosphere is full of fun – with a lot of laughs!

There is satisfaction in being told at the end of the day “Wow, the food was good” and a feeling that you have done this out of choice and through your own skills. The culinary unit is also responsible for the cafeteria and for catering events and parties.

Shoshi, a member of the culinary unit, says:

“When I can’t make it to the culinary unit, I simply feel sick. It’s my life, it’s good for me here.”

Sarit, another member, says:

“When you get up in the morning and say to yourself, there is no way I can’t do it – I can,

I’ll manage!  While I’m on my feet and looking at myself in the mirror, I’m a person who will always succeed!”
