Leisure time at the Jerusalem Clubhouse

The leisure activity is important within the community, as it strengthens the relationships, unifies, and empowers the joy of working together in the different units.
Thanks to the leisure activity, the work gains higher significance, and the value and satisfaction it provides are greater.
As we have explained, leisure activities at the Clubhouse happens alongside, as well as at the time of, work. Like any other respectable workplace, the Clubhouse invests in its employees through enrichment activities.

Leisure at the afternoon

A workday at the Clubhouse lasts until 16:00, as is customary in Israel.
Each day, the Clubhouse keeps operating at 16:00-17:00, in order to vary the daily routine, and also unify and empower the connections between the community's team and members, while increasing the feeling of belonging in the group.
The leisure activities vary and change, according to the community members' desire. Currently, those activities are as follows:

Baking – on Sundays we joyfully bake together at the culinary unit: cakes, cookies, making jam or home-made granola, etc.
We're never out of recipes! And it's such fun to vary and learn more and more. The products made are later sold at our cafeteria.

"Beth Midrash Kolot" (the 'Voices' house of study) – In the light of previous success we began a fourth cycle of study groups, directed by Dr. Racheli Simon and Tsvi Gilat. The teachings are done in a big group and also smaller, more intimate groups. During the studying we read numerous passages of the Bible, stories of Chazal, and various additional Jewish sources, from which we draw inspiration regarding facing of different situations, and the spiritual forces revealed throughout our lives, while sharing our own experiences. We meet every two weeks on Sundays, at 16:15.

Salsa class – The coolest one of them all! In this class we learn together the Salsa dance, to the sounds of the wonderful rhythms of traditional Salsa songs. Instructed by two of our community members, which, whoever lays their eye on them, immediately falls in love!
On Mondays.

Articles – Tuesdays are dedicated to deepening our understanding of the unique model which we work by. Every week we choose a different article from the Clubhouse's articles file (A collection of both translated articled from Clubhouse organizations from around the world, and new articles which were written in Israel), the study of such articles is very meaningful for us and lets us follow Clubhouse's vision and the means with which we can achieve it.

English class – Out of our desire to expand our general knowledge, and the understanding that English is an important key to different areas in life, we recruited the wonderful volunteer Yogev, who leads two English classes every week on Wednesdays.
15:00-16:00 – Beginners' class
16:00 – 17:00 – Advanced class
In the English class we learn together to read, write, and speak English. The class is very helpful and pushing the participants forward. Yogev also gives us exercises to be done at home, and provides a pleasant educational mood. Apparently learning English can be fun as well!

Music class – On Thursdays we end the week with a warm and familial mood. We sing, play, compose and write. We "Jam" original songs and covers!  It’s simply the best to end like this a week of teamwork and much satisfaction.
The different activities change once in a while according to the community members' will and the new talents which we discover in the new people who arrive!
In the past, we had a splendid group of creative writing, an excellent theater class, there was also a volunteer which led an art class, and so on.

Events and holidays

Our community embraces its members on the different holidays and events as well.
We celebrate each holiday in its time, and we mostly celebrate together.
On certain holidays when the community members prefer to stay with their families, we make sure that each and every one of our members will have a pleasant place to celebrate the holiday. Our members invite each other to their homes or get together to celebrate as a group. (For example, last Purim a group of members had arranged a holiday feast)

One of the most significant events we had:

A Purim party and a Birthday to our Clubhouse!

The Jerusalem Clubhouse was established in March 2014 and ever since we celebrate its 'birthday' along with the Purim party.
With rich food, an activity which reflects the last year's growth, greetings for the New Year, a costumes contest,

crazy music and dances until sunrise! Every member of the community attends this party and it is very exciting and familial!

Trips

Like any other workplace, we also go out once in a while for an enjoyable trip!
The trip is arranged by the members of the community and the community's staff,

the trip's destination and cost are picked according to a survey which is conducted among the members,

or a decision is made at our weekly meeting.

Our last trip took place at the 'Valley of Elah' (Terebinth Valley)!

The trip was stunning, the weather was perfect, and the blossom was simply beautiful!
Many members joined the preparations for the trip, including planning, making food,

and different arrangements regarding transportation, guidance, payment, and more.

Birthdays

To celebrate a birthday of one of our members or the staff, we get together to sing and congratulate. We eat together a cake and blow out a candle. The one who has the birthday gets a huge greeting card with greetings from each and every one of our members!
